Filming for the period drama Aniela came to an end
On Friday, April 9th, the word
"Action!" was heard for the last time at the film studios in Buftea
by the crew and actors of Aniela, the
first Romanian period drama that portrays the forbidden love story
between a poor girl without a dowry, Aniela Elefterios, and an
officer, Radu Vulturesco, taking place in 1900.
The journey into the world of Belle Époque began on a torrid summer
day, in August, and lasted for 9 months. During 170
shooting days, the crew and actors spent well over
2,000 hours on the sets especially
crafted for this project. Over 5,500
scenes were filmed with a cast consisting of over
70 actors and hundreds of
extras. For all the people involved in the project,
Aniela has been like a second home.
For the first Romanian period drama, a full detailed street from
the Bucharest of 1900 has been build in Buftea, the work of set
designers and production crews taking over 3 months. Filming took
place in several external locations of which two of them, the
Mansion of Golesti and the
Mogosoaia Palace, preserve many of the
epoch's distinctive elements. In Buftea a set was constructed
especially for the Girls Institute, which was actually a
brothel.
A period that seemed long forgotten, La Belle Époque, has been
brought every evening by ACASA TV to the homes of viewers who
lived, along with their favourite characters, moments full of
tension, luxurious receptions, weddings or dramas. Beyond the
actors' and crew's sadness, who say goodbye to a golden epoch, the
joy of bringing to those at home the perfume of an era of rare
beauty, from Monday to Friday at 20:30, still remains.
