First Romanian Period Drama- Coming up in 2009

The upcoming Promance International project is set on becoming the most ambitious television production ever and marking a new premiere on the Romanian market: the first Romanian period drama.

The announcement was made by Ruxandra Ion, Managing Director of Promance International, in February 2009, during a video-chat recorded for www.acasatv.ro.

“In 2009, Promance, CME and Acasa have decided that it is time for unprecedented investments in television productions. As a result, we are now ready to start working on an impressive Romanian period drama, the first one ever to be produced by a Romanian television. We will be going back in time 100 years with a story based on a 100% Romanian screenplay… for the moment being that’s all. We cannot tell you more.”

The AcasaTV users have also addressed the topic of the Romanian television productions abroad. Ruxandra Ion stated: Gypsy Heart has been sold to Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Ukraine, Bulgaria and Turkey. We are currently in discussions with broadcasters from the Middle East, China, North Africa and territories of the American continent. As far as Slovakia is concerned, the series is market leader and our colleagues from TV Markiza, Slovakia’s number one channel, are more than pleased with the results. In a not so different note, Gypsy Heart has begun airing in Ukraine where the audience results for the first week are exceeding expectations. The other countries have started the dubbing process and we are confident that they will follow the same path of success.”
