Promance International is proud to announce its participation in the 2008 MIPCOM Edition, one of the largest international audiovisual content trade shows that will be held in Cannes this October.
On a rapidly-growing TV market, Promance will highlight in Cannes its impressive productions. The company is showcasing top-ranked television prime-time long running series and prime-time series that boast innovative concepts, top investments and scenes filmed abroad in exotic and world famous locations, as it was the case with Tunis and Paris. The quality of these shows recommends them with broadcasters, distributors, production companies all over the world and they can be purchased as original products as well as format deals.
Regarding the importance of the trade show, Ruxandra Ion, Managing Director of Promance and Channel and Programming Strategist of CME Development Corporation said: “MIPCOM Edition is one of the most important television events in the world and we are happy to return to Cannes with a new portfolio. During the previous years, we have created a network of partners that have shown great interest in our productions and we are hopeful that it is going to be a great year for us. The audience worldwide is becoming ever more demanding, but so are the products featured. Our series can stand up against any competition regardless of geographical areas. We feel that our products meet the requirements of this fast-growing industry and we are eager to take on a new perspective in doing quality television business”.
This year’s portfolio includes the TV hit Gypsy Heart, which ranked first with 80% rating leadership of the total number of episodes. It will make a special appearance in Cannes with the original story of love and hate between Gypsies and Romanians. The series created a mass-phenomenon among viewers in Romania and has been recently sold to FOX Turkey and Markiza TV Slovakia.
The newest and most ambitious project, Regina, the first Romanian television sequel, is also to be presented at Cannes. The series revolves around the star-crossed love between Regina, a blonde Gypsy beauty with a mysterious past, and Cosmin, an ex-convict who is determined to do whatever it takes to have his life back, including working for a high-profile criminal sought by the Italian Police and the Mafia for betraying the Omerta law.
Drama meets romance under the Promance International logo, as Little Angels makes its debut in the French spotlight. The romantic comedy for the whole family chronicles the experiences of a man turned into a male-nanny overnight and a career woman with two mischievous children. When the two worlds collide amusingly and quite unexpectedly, the only thing that can save the protagonists from disaster is the love they start to feel for each other and the help of their „little angels”.
Promance International’s Mothers and Doctors proposes an innovative medical drama based on the reality of the Romanian hospitals. It centers upon a group of physicians working in a Romanian state-owned hospital while trying to make a living out of their jobs at a private gynecological clinic.
The cases presented are inspired from everyday medical events, in which emotions and drama invariably mix. The show also focuses on personal relationships as former and present lovers are brought by circumstances to work together at the medical clinic.
