Promance International
Promance International, the romantic fiction
division of MediaPro Pictures, is specialized in producing
television programs, series (drama and comedy romance) and
television feature films for both Romanian and Central European
markets.
Even though its present identity was established in 2008,
Promance International has been part of MediaPro
Pictures since 2004, growing to be the key producer of television
feature films and series for female audiences in Central and
Eastern Europe. In Romania, the main target consists of active
women aged between 18 and 49 years.
The Romanian telenovela brand was developed in time thanks to
AcasaTV, a TV channel focused on broadcasting Latin-American
productions. Ruxandra Ion, the manager of AcasaTV
at the time, was the sole manager of a TV channel to ever produce a
Romanian telenovela - Only Love. Her inspired
decision to place the series in prime-time turned Only
Love into a noteworthy challenger for well-known local
shows aired on other major stations.
Only Love charmed the Romanian audiences and
outshined all competition in the timeslot, with an average market
share of 25.3%. The first Romanian telenovela managed to capture
the public's attention right from the first episode - which
recorded a market share of 35.6% - and kept hold of it throughout
the series.
In the footsteps of this high-profile success, other telenovelas
such as Tears of Love, A Movie-Like
Romance, The Sins of Eve, Daria,
My Love soon followed. However, it wasn't until 2007 that
a new milestone was set: the telenovela Gypsy
Heart became an indisputable leader on the Romanian
television market. With an average leadership of 80% throughout its
broadcast and a record market share of 40.3% recorded by the series
finale - the highest for AcasaTV during the last six years -,
Gypsy Heart established itself as a mass
phenomenon.
The success of these audience-grabbing series is based on original
programming and on a talented, experienced production team.
All the series produced by Promance are available
on the international market both in the original format (the
original drama romance or comedy romance) and the television format
(the right to produce a local version in a different
country).
Promance International has set for itself the goal
of becoming the main producer of romantic feature films and series
in Europe by continuing to develop quality television programs.
Ruxandra Ion is currently the Managing Director of
Promance as well as the Channel and Programming Strategist of CME
Development Corporation.
